Pet Travel Requirements: UK to Spain
- Microchip: Your pet must be microchipped with an ISO-compliant device before or at the same time as the rabies vaccination. (GOV.UK)
- Rabies Vaccination: Administered after 12 weeks of age and at least 21 days before travel. The vaccination must be valid at the time of travel.
- Animal Health Certificate (AHC): Issued by an official veterinarian within 10 days before entering the EU. The AHC is valid for:
- 10 days for entry into the EU
- 4 months for onward travel within the EU
- 4 months for re-entry to Great Britain (European Union, GOV.UK, GOV.UK)
- Tapeworm Treatment: Not required for entry into Spain. However, if returning to the UK, dogs must be treated for tapeworm 24 to 120 hours before arrival. (GOV.UK)
