Pet transport from the Netherlands to Germany or vice versa involves several steps and requirements. Both countries are part of the European Union, so the process is streamlined compared to moving pets between the EU and non-EU countries. Here are the key steps and considerations:

• Your pet must be microchipped and vaccinated against rabies. The rabies vaccination must occur on the same day or after the microchip implantation.
• There is a mandatory 21-day wait period after the primary (or first) rabies vaccination before your pet can enter Germany. If your pet’s most recent vaccination is a booster shot without a lapse in coverage, a 21-day wait will not be needed.
• Rabies vaccinations valid for 1, 2, or 3 years are permissible for entry to Germany.
• Other vaccines are not required but are recommended, particularly if your pet may need to be boarded before or after travel. For dogs, these include Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus (DHLPP) and Bordetella. For cats, Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (FVRCP) are recommended.
• Travel Requirements: Pets must travel with their owners or under the supervision of a designated person authorized by the owner. If the pet is traveling without the owner, the designated person must travel within 5 days of the pet's arrival.

If you are transporting your pet more than five days before or after the owner or designated person, you will need to meet stricter import requirements and consider a commercial move, which increases costs and changes the EU import requirements and timeline.
